|"What can I do?" That's the question many of you have. Maybe you haven't been politically active and you don't know where to begin. Maybe you feel like you're "just one person" so it doesn't matter. It does matter. Each of us needs to make our voices heard, especially right now. So I'm going to start posting tips - large and small - to give you ideas on what you can do to make your voice heard in order to help secure our rights. Use them and modify them as a starting point for your own actions. Much of the action we need to take involves regularly and consistently contacting our representatives with new messages.
Here's a quick email that I just sent to all of my reps:
I'd like to call your attention to the following news items in reference new gun control restrictions proposed, which will infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens. In light of this material and the manner in which other states' legislators are working to protect their constituents, I'd like you to please carefully weigh the responsibility you have to your constituents before proposing, supporting or voting on any new legislation which will infringe on the rights of law abiding Minnesota citizens.
I also ask that you consider measures similar to that which are being taken by Wyoming, Kentucky and Texas in order to protect the Constitutional rights of the law abiding citizens of Minnesota. It is your duty in your capacity as "our representatives" to protect our rights and interests, and we hold you responsible for doing so.
